Assistive Technology Summer Institute
Take Your Technology on Vacation

August 10-12, 2009

Portland State University

You are invited to submit a proposal for the upcoming OTAP Assistive Technology Summer Institute to be held August 10 - 12, 2009. For a change of scenery, the Institute is tentatively scheduled to be held in The Ondine Building at Portland State University, Portland, Oregon.  This year a new format will be debuted for the daily sessions.  We plan to offer four 3-hour sessions in addition to one 6-hour session each day of the three-day institute.  This will add to the variety of classes that can be offered on various aspects of the uses of technology for students with disabilities.  The Institute features both lecture and computer lab sessions and will cover topics such as technology tools to enhance literacy, assistive technology assessment, assistive technology implementation, technology for computer access, and augmentative communication.

Presenters are encouraged to submit presentation proposals which address program-level implementation. Practical presentations which can be readily implemented and presentations that include strategies for family involvement are encouraged.  This year, please let us know if you are going to present for three hours or six hours.

If you are interested in being a presenter at the 2009 AT Summer Institute, please complete and return the “Presentation Proposal” on the back of this sheet by March 13, 2009.  Lead presenters will receive a stipend of $300 for each three-hour session presented and $700 for a six-hour session.

In addition to a completed presenter proposal you must also submit a 300 word description of your presentation, a 25 - 50 word abstract and three learner objectives.  The description, abstract and learner objectives will be reviewed by the Summer Institute Panel and are critical in determining which workshops will be accepted.
